This week’s readings and lectures/videos focused on APA activism during the 1960s and 70s. Citing both of the readings and at least 2 of the videos, please answer the following:
• What were the roots of Asian American activism at the time? Why was it so important for Asian Americans to participate in these anti-racist movements (Please consider the makeup of the community, as well as the goals for these movements)? What role did interethnic/interracial cooperation play in this history?
• What is the I-Hotel? Discuss at least two reasons why the movement to save the hotel continues to be significant.
• Why were college students so central to these social movements at the time? (Provide specific examples to support your answer.) Are current college students invested in social justice projects today? Explain why or why not.
